FREE VS LOW-COSTCompare the total cost before you call an offer “free.”
A device can have a zero-dollar price and still carry shipping, deposit, internet, replacement, or return obligations. A discounted refurbished laptop may cost more up front but be yours to keep and include a warranty.
For each offer, write down the computer price, shipping, taxes, charger, warranty, battery condition, operating system, return policy, ownership rules, and whether internet service is separate. If the device is a loan, ask about the return date and damage charges.
Do not choose a laptop only because the page uses the word “free.” Choose the option that actually works for school, job applications, telehealth, GED classes, or the task you need to complete.
